Finals Week at Slippery Rock University

With Thanksgiving tomorrow, this makes me think about how close the semester is to coming to an end. It is very exciting but also very nerve racking. As I looked through my planner this morning, I realized how much needs to be done before finals week. I like how we now have 2 weeks before finals week. However, I do not like how we have classes on the Monday of finals week. I wish that we could actually start finals on Monday and then possibly be done sooner than Friday. However, I have gotten lucky a couple of times with being done with my finals on Thursday, I think beginning finals week on Monday would be a great idea for the future.

  1. I agree about the classes on Monday. I believe we should just finals on Monday. Really how big of a difference of not having class on that Monday going to make. I also have a lot of work to do before finals week. It makes me very nervous as well, but also excited that the semester is almost over. It seems like each semester goes faster than the last one. I guess thats just how it goes when you get older haha.

  2. Kayla this is a great blog and it is a good thing you mentioned that. I do NOT agree with having class the Monday of finals week. It really throws your schedule off. I remember when I was at Gannon the week of finals we had finals only that was all. I know that my schedule will now be messed up for finals week because looking at my schedule my finals are all "bunched" together, 2-3 being in one day and having class on that Monday will put a "damper" on my studying in a way

  3. I couldn't agree with you anymore. It is always a pain if you have finals on tuesdays cause you have little time to plan ahead and study for tests with a day of regular classes on Monday. With finals week starting on Monday all finals would be able to finish by Friday instead of Saturday. I have been fortunate enough to never have a Saturday final and with the schedule as it is I hope it stays that way. With most projects and assignments already turned in that one more day of classes seems almost pointless. Mandatory to still meet for class. Teachers may do a review or have time to ask questions for the final which may not take up an entire period. Cutting the final day of classes short one day and starting finals week on Monday would be more efficient and beneficial to the students and University.

  4. I agree with you on this issue. It seems pointless to only have one day of classes and then beging finals week. Why not have a fresh start and a complete week to focus on finals. This way the weekend before could be solely spent on studying for finals, rather than worrying about one more day of classes. I guess we are required to have so many hours for our classes, but there has to be a better way to schedule them. Hopefully in the future something else will be worked out.

  5. So true! I have always thought that it was so odd that they throw that random Monday class day in there. Like whats the point? They totally should just give us that day off to prepare, or just start them on Monday. Everyone is ready to go home already!! Nothing worse than a Friday final - for sure! Good luck!

  6. I agree that Monday class is useless in my opinion. Finals should start that Monday and end on Thursday. This will allow for the entire weekend to be spent studying. No one here is looking forward to a final at 8 a.m. The only thought by the end of finals week is Christmas break.
